General Information:
Also known as fractional photothermolysis, Fractional Laser Resurfacing is a method of skin rejuvenation in which the targeted areas of the skin are precisely spaced out at a microscopic level, leaving some skin perfectly intact while other zones are heat treated. The effect is visually comparable to the pixels in digital images, as the tiny spots of treated skin replace old, destroyed cells with new, healthy ones, and the untreated areas maintain the tissue's stability for quicker recovery. This approach provides greater safety and faster recovery time resulting in a relatively risk-free procedure with superior skin rejuvenation in as little as one treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions: Laser Skin Resurfacing
How long does the treatment take?
Fractional Laser Resurfacing can be extremely quick procedures, often lasting no longer than 30 minutes.

How long will the results last?
Improvement after Fractional Laser Resurfacing treatments are generally seen in 1 month and continue up to 3 months after treatment. Results are long lasting.

Is the treatment painful?
Patients describe Fractional Laser Resurfacing as a "prickling" sensation. Treatments can get quite hot, but topical anesthetic and air cooling can be used to minimize any discomfort.

What can patients expect after a Fractional Laser Resurfacing treatment:
Swelling and redness are common immediately after treatment and typically resolve in 3-4 days. Unlike other advanced laser treatments, there is no recovery time involved with Fractional Laser Resurfacing. However, for the first week, your skin will often peel and appear swollen and red. Some patients like to keep a low profile for a few days after their treatments. There is a slight risk of infection or scarring which can be greatly minimized by adhering to the doctor’s post care instructions.
