"I used to get relaxing facials a few times a year and my skin looked okay. Now that I am at MBLA and get more thorough skin care my skin looks amazing, healthy, hydrated and glowing. I can't believe how many compliments I've been getting! I don't get acne outbreaks and now I feel confident going without make-up. MBLA changed my skin and I'm thrilled!"  Stacy Nagel, Project Manager, AOL

Frequently Asked Questions: Medical Skin Care
Who can be treated?
Anyone who is looking to improve or maintain healthy skin. If you suffer from a skin condition our team will customize your skin care treatments to meet your skin's specific needs.

How long is treatment?
Typically 45 minutes to an hour.

Is there any downtime?
Following the treatment your skin may be a bit pink for a few hours. Normal activities may be resumed immediately after treatment.

How many sessions are needed?
It varies depending on your skin care goals, but once a month is optimal.

What is an esthetician?
Our estheticians are skin care specialists who work under the guidance of a licensed health care provider. They provide treatments for your skin to maintain and improve its appearance.

Do you do more advanced peels?
We offer progressive peeling, where we escalate the products and peels used over time. Once the skin has been adequately conditioned, we offer physician applied peels for those patients looking for enhanced results.

What is acne?
Acne vulgaris (or acne) is a common skin condition characterized by blackheads and whiteheads (comedones), pimples (papules, pustules), and cysts. Acne is mostly seen in areas with the densest sebaceous follicles; these areas include the T-zone of the face (forehead, nose and chin), upper part of the chest, and back.

Why is sunscreen needed even when it is cloudy?
Ultraviolet (UV) rays can travel through clouds and still damage your skin. So you need a broad-spectrum sunscreen which protects your from both UVA and UVB rays.
